The JHS Firefly fuzz pedal features a classic three-transistor Germanium circuit, giving you a loud, powerful fuzz tone that can range from blues to rock to heavy, grinding distortion. Based on the late '60s Sola Sound Tone Bender MKIII, the Firefly will imbue your guitar with the same Germanium-infused touch sensitivity, response, and rich tone that fueled the British Invasion. Sporting Volume, EQ, Fuzz, and Bias controls, the Firefly is tailor-made for guitarists who want to tweak their tone to perfection. The JHS Firefly fuzz pedal's tasty tone is highly addictive - so plug in! But don't say we didn't warn you!
Volume, EQ, Fuzz, and Bias controls provide plenty of tone-tweaking options
The JHS Firefly fuzz pedal provides you with plenty of options for tone tweaking. The Firefly's Volume control gives you an enormous amount of headroom that allows it to be used as a boost that can hit extremely hard if needed. The EQ control operates as a cut; rotating the knob to the right will remove highs and fatten your tone. The Fuzz control simply adds more distortion/fuzz, making your signal dirtier. The Bias control allows you to fine-tune the amount of power that is piped into the Firefly's perfectly hand-matched germanium AC128 transistors, giving you access to an entire universe of diverse, fuzzed-out tones.
Sola Sound Tone Bender MKIII - a brief history
When the Sola Sound Tone Bender MKI arrived on the booming London music scene in 1965, guitarists far and wide fell in love with the loud, powerful fuzz tone that could be milked from its distinctive 3-transistor circuit. By 1969, several versions and variations of the Tone Bender had entered the market from other companies such as Vox, Jennings, Colorsound, and JMI, under many different names. The Firefly Fuzz is a modern take on the classic 3-transistor Germanium fuzz circuit, including major improvements while caring for the details that preserve the legendary tone of the original.
